Johnson authored multiple titles on the topic of princesses. Beni Montresor, who created the detailed pictures, was renowned in two worlds of art; set design and children’s book illustrations. His work is credited with beginning the domination of illustrations in books primarily for children. As a set designer, the Italian Montresor, worked with the likes of Rossellini and Fellini. And as an illustrator he was awarded the Caldecott Medal in 1965.
